There's nothing in the bottle's c_drive folder and I can't tell exactly how wine/proton is masking this. I've sort of got the entries the Reg Patch creates (made a diff of the registry before/after the exe ran on another machine).įor a given bottle, I can't find the "installation path" inside that bottle - that is "C:\Program Files\.etc". So either a) the exe can't get the actual current installation folder the game is run from or b) can't get these entries into the registry. My guess is the exe checks the current folder, creates the required registry entries and then tries to insert these into the registry. Hey great idea! I tried it and it works now (patch gets past the error mentioned) but it seems like it didn't fix the problem.
